Sylvanian World - Back to School

One blogger friend Jaycee C in HongKong called us for this ‘Back to School’ theme. In China the official back-to-school day is usually on September.1st. Similar to what was happening here in the States, you would see back-to-school sales in the store. Students would get new stationaries, textbooks and sometimes school uniforms. Although the academic pressure was hard to believe when I was a young student in China, and we were required to turn in a big load of holiday assignments, we still looked forward to the first day of school. The second day? Hard to say…… I miss school. I miss the youth time when I was so excited to get a new pencil box and decorated it with cute stickers. Now I don’t need and no longer have a pencil box. I rarely buy stationeries. But I’ve collected many Re-ment stationery sets.

To respond to Jaycee’s call and recall the old time, I spent last night setting up a stationery shop. If you are still a student and the school already started, I hope you have a good successful fall term. If you are no longer a student, I hope it makes you smile and good luck to what you are doing right now. And to all of you in the U.S., happy Labor Day!

This setup includes two of my favorite Re-ment sets: Student Stationery and Retro Girls Treasures. In the next following weeks I'll introduce everything in the two sets in my blog.
There are many bloggers who attended Jaycee's Back to School call. Take a look in Jaycee's post and you will find a list of links at the end introducing who has attended: http://jcduckhome.blogspot.com/2014/08/bb.html

Have a wonderful September!

Sylvanian World - Washitsu (Japanse Style Room)

If you have seen the Washitsu (Japanese Style Room) photo in my previous post "Re-ment Dogs Happy Life" you may already knew some of the things I used for this Washitsu. The background was the same as the little sewing room in the last post. This background was supposed for making a diorama for my Blythe dolls but it's too small. Now I use it for Sylvanians or other small dolls. I like it now. It's very flexible to use for setting up different scenes and play with. I challenge myself create more interesting scenes these days. I really want to play with my toys. I don't want to see my treasures dead in the storage box.

So here it is: a smaller version of Japanese Style Room! I hope you enjoy seeing it.

A new friend in my toy family: BK. (BK stands for "Black Kitty". I wish I could come up with a better name but BK is easy to remember...)

Some of the things I used in this setup:

Sylvanian Families "15th Anniversary Japanese Style Room"
Sylvanin Families "Tuxedo Cat"
Little Stair-like Cabinet: Re-ment My Style Room #5 Japanese Room
Wall picture: handmade
Oil heater: Re-ment Dog's Happy Life #2
Napping dog: Re-ment Dog's Happy Life #4
Mint-color phone: Re-ment Vintage Home Appliances #5
(Vintage Home Appliance set is my favorite RM set. I'd really like to introduce the whole set to you one day.)
Vacuum and red trash bin: Re-ment Office Lady Secret Box
BK: Mirianata's craft (from Etsy)
Six-Jar spice rack: Re-ment Asian Sundries #4

Have a great week! Thanks for reading.

New Village Friends - Frog Family

I didn't intend to buy the Sylvanian frog families at first. My friend sent me some money and asked me to process the transaction for her on eBay because she didn't have the account. So I did it but made a mistake of picking the wrong mailing address. For the first order the default address which was mine was selected. Woops...I thought, but instead of emailing the seller about changing address I just decided to keep them for myself. And I paid again to order another one for my friend. I wasn't a frog fan (this friend is!) because honestly I used to think they look odd, and they are very rare vintage items so they are so expensive compared with other critters.

This family traveled from Spain (free shipping yeah) in original Tomy boxes. The other old critters from Tomy I have are a duck couple (who are my favorite among all critters). I immediately fell in love with them when taking them out of the boxes. They don't look odd to me anymore and now I think they look so cute, innocent and funny. For the vintage Sylvanian from the manufaturer of Tomy, $80 for a big family with no international shipping charge is really a good and fair deal.  Don't miss it if you are a Sylvanian collector. We know sometimes the bid goes really high for just one of them, let alone the shipping cost $$.

And those wonderful village friends, our new family here, have brought us a concert to share their happiness and enthusiasm. Guess frogs are born singers and musicians. Betty was invited to be the piano player. Long time no see right? : )

Also  I recommend you click the song below when you keep reading to add interest. lol...

Sylvanian Bookstore,Handcraft Shop and Some Others

I haven't posted anything about Sylvanian Families for a while. Not because I jumped into the Blythe pool and forgot our little animal friends, but because I didn't come up with a new story idea yet. Not being very creative in the hot season but I will keep thinking. Of course our critter friends are going on their daily life.

Today I want to share some new treasures to my Sylvanian collection. Some of them are my recent won from Yahoo Japan. First there are the book store set and handcraft shop that I'd craved for for a long time. You rarely see them in the market today since they were released many years ago. Both of the two sets have many accessories. It needed to be simply assembled just like other Sylvanian toys. The color, mint blue for the book shelves and dark pink for the handcraft shop, always look adorable.

The Book Store: Every drawer can be opened and the two scissors are operative. Postcards were nicely printed. Books have very very cute covers.

More stuff hides here. Plz neglect my huge fingers...

The Handcraft Shop: It has an instruction paper and shows you how to wind the wool. And it asks you to mark the eyes and nose of the little bear. The bear comes in its shape but you can see the packed material behind it, an unfinished rabbit, is waiting for you to stitch. I didn't really make it so I followed the instruction paper to pack it into the provided plastic bag and pasted the label. It gives few tiny buttons to fill the drawer but I will add more of my craft beads later. It also gives a thick well-made fabric sheet but I don't know where to put. So I will just save it for someone's bedding I think.

Some other things I got are the streetlight set, the stew set (still available on BeHappy), a new sofa set (from BeHappy too) and the concert set. I opened all except for the concert set. Some more pictures I took:

It's pretty bright right? Guess where the switch is? It's hidden in one of the flowering shrub piece.

I didn't take very detailed pictures for the stew set. But my readers, help yourself to the delicious food here. There are 3 kinds: cream, brown and vegetable.

Try the new couch in the house: the color is great!

I also moved the study room from the Red-Roof Vacation House because our Sylvanian friends don't want to study when they are on vacation...the stationery series are from Re-ment OL(office lady) set. It's a great re-ment set and I highly recommend you click the link and see.

Thanks for reading. Their boxes look like:

Tuxedo Cats Make Up

Tuxedo cat (Milky) is teaching her younger sister (Coffee) do make up.

Milky: Put on powder to get beautiful, flawless skin.
Coffee: I think we cats don't need that. We already have perfect skin.

Milky: Next, wear false eyelash before you use mascara.
Coffee: Can't I use mascara directly?
Milky: Honey, sorry, the Sylvanian designers didn't give us eyelash.
Coffee:...OK.

Milky: You look different now, Sweety, you have long eyelash. It's beautiful.

Closer look:

Milky: Which color of eye shadow do you like?
Coffee: How about blue? I am in blue dress.

Milky: Blue is beautiful on you. Now let's make the lips sexy.
Coffee: Oh, but i think i don't have lips.
Milky: Whoops! So maybe we can add some color on the tip of nose.

Closer look:

Milky: See how beautiful you are. Now the finishing powder will help the makeup last longer.
Coffee: Thank you sister.

Milky: Let me comb your hairs. Hairs are so important to cats.

Milky: Ok, Beauty, you are a big girl now. Wear a little bit perfume before going to the date.

~O(∩_∩)O~    Done.

Is Coffee a beautiful cat? She has the perfect makeup and smells good. I bet she will rock the date tonight. And thanks for Milky's help. She is a very sweet sister.

P.S. Milky and Coffee are real names of two cats of my mom's. She has 6 in total.
